Paver Sealing in Cape Coral: What the Job Actually Takes

Freshly sealed red and brown paver driveway at a Cape Coral home in Lee County, Florida

Paver sealing in Cape Coral is not the same job it is in most of the country. Between well and canal irrigation water, salt in the air, and sandy soil that shifts after every heavy summer rain, pavers here take a beating that one coat of sealer will not fix. Here is what the work actually involves: what local conditions do to your pavers, the four kinds of paver work and which one you need, how a proper clean, sand, and seal runs, what moves the price, and how to get a straight answer on your own driveway.

What Cape Coral Does to Pavers

Most of the damage homeowners here call about is not wear. It is chemistry and water.

The Four Local Culprits

  • Irrigation water: Well and canal water in Lee County carries iron and minerals. That is where the orange rust streaks and white crusty buildup along the sprinkler arc come from, and rinsing will not remove them.
  • Sandy soil: Our base material moves. After a hard rainy season a driveway that was flat in April has low spots and lifted edges by September.
  • Shade and humidity: Under oaks, heavy palms, and pool cages, mold and algae take hold and keep coming back.
  • UV and salt: Reds fade toward pink, charcoals go gray, and salt in the air works on everything a little faster than it would inland.

Paver sealing handles some of this and none of the rest. That distinction is the whole job.

Four Kinds of Paver Work, and Which One You Need

Know Which Service You Are Actually Buying

  • Driveway sealing: A full clean, sand, and seal on sound pavers that have never been coated, or whose old coating has worn away evenly.
  • Pool deck and lanai sealing: The same process plus protecting the pool water, screens, and coping first, and antimicrobial Trident sealers for cage mold and algae.
  • Restoration: Stripping a failed, peeling, or blotchy coating and resetting the surface completely. This is the most involved work we do.
  • Repair: Resetting sunken, loose, or uneven pavers and regrading the base underneath.

The order matters more than most homeowners expect. Repair comes before sealing, every time. Sealing a driveway that is still settling locks in a problem instead of fixing it.

How a Paver Sealing Job in Cape Coral Should Run

  1. Inspection first: We look at what is actually on the pavers now, whether there is a previous coating, and whether the base has moved. If sealing is the wrong call, we will tell you straight.
  2. Deep clean: Organic growth, rust staining, and mineral buildup come off before anything else happens. Prep is the job.
  3. Repairs and joint sand: Any resetting gets done, then joint sand goes back in at full depth. Shallow joints are why edges creep and weeds return.
  4. Heavy flood coat: The first coat goes on wet enough to soak into the paver and lock the sand, not thin enough to just sit on top.
  5. Second controlled coat: A second, lighter pass evens the finish and puts the protection where the first coat did not reach.

What Moves the Price

Paver sealing in Cape Coral is priced by condition, not by square foot alone. Two driveways of the same size are rarely the same job.

What Changes the Number

  • Condition: Bare pavers with normal dirt cost less than pavers carrying rust stains, heavy organic growth, or a failed coating that has to come off first.
  • Prep required: Repairs, regrading, and full joint sand replacement are real labor before a drop of sealer is opened.
  • Surface type: A pool deck means masking the cage, screens, and coping, and protecting the water. A driveway does not.

Why Cape Coral Homeowners Call N&T

We are specialists, not spray-and-go. Paver sealing is what we do, all week, on routes across Cape Coral, Fort Myers, and Estero. Nick Piga is Trident Master Certified, which means hands-on training in the sealer systems we put on your property rather than whatever was on the truck that morning.

We also turn down work we should turn down. We do not seal over a failing coating, and we do not install new pavers. Both answers cost us jobs and save you a callback.

Local FAQ

Why do my pavers have orange streaks?

That is almost always iron in well or canal irrigation water. It follows the sprinkler pattern, which is the giveaway. It is a staining problem, not a sealer problem, and it has to be treated before sealing.

Can you seal over the coating that is already on there?

Not if it is failing. Sealing over a peeling or hazed coating traps the problem underneath and it comes back worse. That surface gets stripped and reset first.

Do you do general pressure washing?

No. We specialize strictly in paver work, not general pressure washing, and we are happy to point you toward someone who does it.
